I have torches, quick cut and a dry cut saw at my disposal but I use a mini grinder with a 5" Walter zip cut blade in it to cut red iron when it's in place, as long as the section isn't too big, I mean you don't want to be hanging off a roof trying to cut a 12" beam but it works well on stuff like 1/4" angle.

May 15, 2012· Providing you have sufficient depth of cut I'd take the circular saw option any day. Safer than an angle grinder, squarer and straighter cut. You can put a neat arris on the cut edge with an ordinary file as well which might give you a tidier edge if the other edges are allready done.

Sometimes when we let the rail cool it snapped on its own without the use of a hammer.
