At present about 20 varieties of major minerals and five varieties of minor minerals are being exploited in the State. 568 mining leases of major minerals covering an area of 21,247 hectares, 5650 quarry leases of minor minerals covering an area of 4526 hectares have been sanctioned in .

The mining engineers and lassies are compelled to adhere with the rules and follow the Eco Friendly Mining in the state. There are sufficient existing provisions in various laws to take care of measures required to protect environment in mining areas. Some of the provisions are being highlighted as under:
