Dec 29, 2009· I am in the process of choosing a milling machine. I have whittled it down to three options Taig, Sherline and the last one, Mini Mill from Harbor Freight Tools / Grizzly. The Taig and Sherline are much more expensive as are the tools. Harbor Freight / Grizzly are much less expensive as are their tools.
Nov 30, 2011· For Sale, Taig 2019ER Micro Milling Machine Has seen very little use. I added some upgrades to what I considered rather weak points to the Taig Design. The original motor was noisy and vibrated badly, plus the mount was too thin. I replaced it with a brand new Bodine 3phase Inverter Duty Motor and Inverter.
I've been using a Taig lathe at home for more than 10 years now. This page shows the mods I made which make the lathe much more convenient and fast to use. Most of the mods only save a few seconds but that's a lot when you consider that using a lathe is performing numerous small steps – most taking only a few seconds.

Best small mill/lathe for a hobby shop. I'd like to put a small shop in my basement to do some hobby work and build tools or gadgets to use around the house. I'm thinking mostly aluminum stuff, but maybe drilling up to 1/2" steel and there might be a need for 3/4" holes in the steel. ... and I just purchased but have not received the Taig CNC ...

I use it for my turning projects, of course, but for the last couple years I've used it for all my milling projects too, with the help of a milling attachment. You can get a lot done with a lathe and milling attachment.

I just called the Taig CNC Micro Mill a "sleeper". I do that because I think there are probably a lot of people who don't realize what is "under the hood" of this little machine. It doesn't have all the catch word components of larger CNC mills. Especially the antibacklash ball nuts and screws.

Thought I had a problem with the start switch soon after I got my model CT129N mill. The switch would not engage and stay in "ON" position. I contacted my local Busy Bee store and they passed me off to head office. I received a call from a tech very quickly with a solution. He said "There is a microswitch on the front safety guard".
